Hounds Run Falls

Hounds Run Falls is located on Hounds Run about 1/2 mile upstream from Rock Run Road in Lycoming County PA. Near the town of Ralston PA, it is part of the McIntyre Wild Area. The hike to this waterfall is not steep but it is difficult because there is no trail. One must travel up the creek bed, skirting around large rocks and criss-crossing the creek each time the adjoining cliffs close in . This cascading fall is in the form of an inverted fan shape, narrow at the top and widening as it descends. Several stepped cascades below the main drop add to the scene.
Debra and I visited Hounds Run on April 30th 2017. We stayed overnight at the Morgan Century Farm B&B in Lincoln Falls, PA. Ken and Linda were great hosts and the B&B is rich in antiques and history. This is a good location, as there are many waterfalls to be visited in the area.
Along with my friend Rich Riter, I returned to Hounds Run Falls on August 1st, 2018. We had received some significant rain falls so I was confident that Hounds Run would be flowing strongly even in mid-summer. We were not disappointed. Be sure to view the new video selection as it will depict Rich ledge hopping the falls!
