Henry's Run is a tributary to the Clarion River in Clarion County PA. It is located about ten miles northeast of the town of Clarion. There is an easy flat, riverside, one mile trail to the site, however, this trail crosses 8 adjoining private properties and the owners have decided to aggressively discourage hikers from walking the trail. A local trail club has taken the owners to court. Due to the fact that the public has used the trail openly for over 50 years they hope to get a ruling that the trail is a public right of way. The court's decision will be interesting.
Because of this conflict, on October 12th 2018, I opted to take a more difficult hillside trail. This trail is a little longer, includes steep ups and downs but provides a nice scenic vista overlooking the Clarion River. I found my way to Henry's Run. It is a very pleasant hidden spot. Years ago a family by the name of Henry owned a homestead here and constructed a stone dam which they used to operate a sawmill. I found the craftmanship, skill and shear effort required to build this dam impresive and very scenic. Take a look!
